We bring residents, volunteers and local safety stakeholders together to prevent crime, strengthen communication and support safer communities across Makhanda.
Makhanda Neighbourhood Crime Watch is a community-led non-profit organisation established to respond to the safety challenges affecting residents across Makhanda.
We work in urban neighbourhoods, rural communities and surrounding farming areas where access to formal safety services may be limited or delayed. Through volunteer participation, visible patrols, safety awareness and coordinated communication, we help communities become more informed, organised and prepared.
Our organisation is built on the belief that residents have an important role to play in creating safer places to live, work and raise their families.
To create a safe, united and crime-free Makhanda where all residents can live with dignity, confidence and peace of mind.
To prevent and respond to crime through community participation, structured patrols, awareness initiatives and stronger collaboration with law enforcement and local stakeholders.
Makhanda Neighbourhood Crime Watch is supported by a governance and management structure with experience in community mobilisation, programme coordination, volunteer oversight and stakeholder engagement.
Our relationships with residents, community leaders and local safety structures help us respond to community needs and coordinate activities responsibly.
Increase visibility through organised patrols and monitoring in identified high-risk areas.
Provide practical training and awareness on crime prevention, safety procedures and emergency response.
Mobilise residents to volunteer and participate in local safety initiatives.
Community safety depends on people who are willing to participate, communicate and support one another. Volunteer with us, support our activities or partner with the organisation to help strengthen safety across Makhanda.
